Hi,
I’m Mia.

A one-handed
graphic designer.

I was born with amniotic band syndrome, which means that my left arm stops just below my elbow, and I am missing my left forearm and hand. My disability has given me a unique perspective and made me a passionate, hard-working and resilient person. Living with one hand creates different challenges and has turned me into a great problem solver and quick learner, as I am constantly having to find new ways to complete tasks that others would not bat an eye at.

Through design, I have become more comfortable with my disability, using it to advocate for and voice the challenges disabled people face. I enjoy creating work for social good through publication design, illustration and collage.
